I need some metal or plastic mesh as follows:

13 holes to the inch, or 7 to the cm. 265x382 mm (2 of)
39 holes to the inch or 17 to the cm 265x382 mm (4 of)

I have tried nylon mesh but it's too saggy. I need something more rigid. I can find the right grade of mesh, but it's too small to fit in the boxes. Obviously I can cut a larger sheet down. I'm not comfortable with aluminium for this purpose.

Incidentally, it's to put my meal worms on, so the eggs, beetles, baby worms and grown up worms are kept separate automatically.

Most ceramics supplies companies sell spare mesh for "lawns" (ie sieves)

Lorraine, weld mesh would be much too large. The holes I need are 0.5mm and 1-2 mm. My kitchen sieve is closer to 3mm (I could do with some weld mesh for the bottom of my quail run, but you're right, it's an awfully long way!)

I'll try ceramic suppliers next.

Aperture size 0.46mm

i happen to be sitting next to a bit of 3 by 2 mm hole flyscreen in stainless steel which might do for the larger size one .i need that bit but if you are stuck pm me and i will pop and have a look in our local hardware emporium ,iirc they had other sizes as well as other materials .

Very fine meshes are made for silk screen work (they are usually polyester or wire these days). They must have a range of meshes one of which will suit you. Try to go direct to the supplier as art suppliers will probably only have the finer grades. Sorry I can't help further but I haven't done that sort of silk screening for about 40 years.

I emailed and they replied and said they had nothing in 'them sizes' I found the whole website a pain, which is why I emailed and they said no (I did point out I could cut down larger dimensions)

Amazon and eBay have a couple of places with the right aperture sizes, but all in a4 sheets, which are too small. I've already cut the bottoms, so I need the right sizes. Gah, no wonder I everyone thinks I'm bonkers.

Ah, I didn't realise you'd already cut them. Could you put the A4 sheets in a frame and attach the frame to the bottom?

Possibly. It would be much, much easier to buy sheets the right size, though. How hard can it be?!

Yeh their website does need some work - sods law it's always the bit you want that has no(or the wrong)description. Other than that and the massive lorries, they are a good resource for metal items. I mainly use for handrailing and gate parts. Their mesh accessories might be of interest to some on here - I recently knocked up a rooftop cat run for a customer using mesh and their clips and brackets.

You said nylon mesh is too saggy - what about supporting it in on a sheet of, say, 1inch steel mesh ?
