I want to make some bonfire night cocktails. Whilst there are loads of recipes out there, I would rather start from a base of tried and tested and enjoyed recipes. Any ideas?

You mean cocktails that you just happen to be having on bonfire night, or specifically bonfire night themed cocktails?

If the former, I am very fond of Gin Mojitos and Espresso Martinis (even though they aren't proper Martinis at all) Cosmopolitans, Margaritas and Kir Royal are also very nice.

If the latter, I personally would put indoor sparklers in the same drinks and re-name them all after fireworks. You still get nice cocktails and people feel it's appropriate to the occasion.

I once had a cocktail, which was a martini type that had marmalade, Palo Cortada sherry, vanilla vodka and God knows what else but can't find a suitable recipe.

Snap. We had nearly drunk the entire bottle by the time we worked out how to set it alight...

Am I right in thinking you'd want warm, spicy flavours - gingery or toffee-apple-y? Am trying to fire up brain cells

I worked through ALL the Sambuca colours - they don't come back up the same way they go down! Yes, lovely warm spicy flavours. Ginger and toffee apple both great ideas.

Uhhmmmm bad experiences with Baileys and Tia Maria too... You know they curdle when they come back to haunt you! Lets just say I had a wild youth.... PS Don't mention peach or grapefruit shnapps either...
