The Rare Breed's Survival Trust is very concerned by dwindling numbers of heavy horses being bred and is trying to raise money for a semen collection to keep the genes in storage.
Running to the end of this month. At present it is a pledge - money only taken off your card if they reach the target. Not exactly roaring away. If you could help both by donations and by spreading the word, that would be really helpful.
Suffolk horses in particular are down to only 73 females bred this year and if the decline continues, RBST thinks Suffolk could be extinct in 10 years.
