Interested to know how trading's been for you all in the first two months of this year. Since we started three years ago, we've seen a good increase in sales year on year, but the start of this year has been pretty poor really. Just not enough people around

Anyone else felt this?

In my line I'm having a bit of a slow few weeks, but i'm hoping it is a bit of a blip.

Its our first ever Jan/Feb and its been hard. Having said that we're still doing what we doing in November, which is a reflection of growing I suppose.

When does it start to pick up?

Proberbly because of all the avian flu scare media stories, but egg sales are way down from last year.

We are inundated with them, and I keep slipping the odd tray to people, like the school, who don't usually have them!

Other than that this time of year is used for us to get ready for a hopefully busy season

Have just noticed that some of my "blip" is that 10% or so of income over the last week or so has simply not been accounted for. Which leave February still rather below the previous upward trend line, but still actually record breaking

Internet orders have been minimal, but we did 10% better at the fair last week than at the same fair in October, which was very heartening. Have just applied for a stand at the Wonderwool thing at Builth in May, so if they let me in that will be one show we hadn't anticipated. Have to get organised and put more things on ebay on a regular basis, that always helps

Well it keeps going up, but then it should, as we have considerably more stock than previous years. January was dead quiet, but February has made up for it. Demand for pork has suddenly dried up though, and everyone wants lamb/mutton or beef. Live pigs are going better than dead ones! And the Pig in a Day DVD is selling well, less so for the other signed books & DVDs, but PiaD being a new product, that is to be expected. Expecting another high point when the new wool comes in, hopefully next month.

All in all we look to be just about on target for this financial year, but next year I am doubling the target
