Q1 is there any space under the deck to fish wires to where they need to be?

note 1 those posts that stick up for whatevers are useful

Q2 any chance of a couple of posts at the corners of the bbq/oven area?

Boards have been screwed down, and can be unscrewed. Every board is mounted on a 25mm joist, at least. The top section is overlaid on composite decking, the lower section sits, mostly, on a concrete pad.

Those posts will become a pergola. They are 2.4m high, and around 2-3m apart. There will be much more timber on top. And she has plans for some solar 'Moroccan' fairy lights on them. Don't ask.

There are very likely going to be a steel pole, or similar in some corners to attach a sail/sunshade type thing to.

i am on the side of good lighting

up, down, chain, washer, spot, flood are the basic ingredients

indoors or outdoors the principles are the same, see enough not to fall over or bump into things, dont dazzle folk, make it look nice

and have capacity for bright all over to find the lost contact lens or do the hoovering

lighting is fun

perhaps my 4 off-phase strobes in a SFX mist would be a step too far but nick can have that as an option if he wants, one switch the world changes

my hope is functional, pretty and pv powered(a built in giggle would be fun though)

the bbq/oven area needs high and fairly narrow from both sides and slightly behind a person cooking( shadows umm but better than dazzle)
directly down can work but would not give good eyeball to the oven contents( a spot might sort that, i will have a think)
where is the prep/serving area in that snap?

On the right is the pizza oven. On the left is a bbq grill. Between the two is a big marble prep slab.

Underneath sits Brownbear’s smoker. The far left *may* yet end up being a Tandoor.

you need a highish post both ends to support hooded floodlights that light that area gently but firmly, too bright is as bad as chopping a few extra tomatoes or whatever in darkness

Who doesn't love an evening barbeque that feels like it's taking place on center stage at midday?

yep, the presentation thing is as important as the prep/cook aspect

i have no idea if they are still available but a upcycled telephone pole would cut in two and make good side posts for lights and the awning

2x tallish(3m above ground) strong( is it ever a little breezy when raining etc)posts would be ideal for both reasons
ps a decent sunshade is nice for hot/bright afternoons not just to avoid making salad jerky but to see what you are doing

a canopy should be quite high but i am not sure how that might relate to the oven chimney tops

a couple of M above those might be my best guess

roller canopy would be nice, gladiator with tongs

tis a nice space and it can be really special as "the cherry on the cake"

pps the two halves of a scaffpole "ranger" would perhaps do the job with a decent block of post set concrete to hold them properly

a few clips etc could give fixing points

messing about with big umbrellas etc is a pita when cooking and serving

lighting can be an issue

imho 2 big posts a little in front of the cooking area, 2 shorter but strong ones a few m back from the far edge
lights and roller canopy are pretty easy

that makes it 24/12 useful with the right and quite simple kit hung up topside

tall posts either side and a little in front of the "unit", if you are facing the bbq oven door etc where you would cook or serve

It looks fabulous Nick. Is it in your garden or just some random bit of woodland? Am I correct in thinking Brownbear died?
