We have a new resident, much to the frustration of the cats, who can see it but not reach it. Two eggs under there:

Some fantastic photos!

We have a new visitor to our garden: a little Serin, which sits in our olive tree and sings (well squawks) its little heart out. Fascinating little bird.

nice window bird, tell puss to behave nicely, good luck with that, the way the ginger one over the back looks at my birds is concerning but so far it has not tried to visit

Never heard of a serin, so had to look it up. Seems we might just get them on the south coast of England here, but not that likely.

The beech leaves in the next wood are starting to come out. I was so busy with charcoal yesterday that I didn't get a chance to go anywhere other than the 'yard', but saw some bluebells in flower on the way to the woods. Must try to get down to see what ours are doing this weekend.

We have this weird and wonderful flower that has popped out of the gravel - I don't know what it's called, so I call it a Portuguese bluebell.

it might be an aloe of some sort

are the leaf edges spikey? bit hard to tell but they seem to have "teeth"

the fruits look quite aloe

there are lots of them, and they like that sort of climate

Got off my lazy bottom and looked it up. Mascari Comosum, apparently.
