at the end of the day a wedding should be about the two people who are getting married enjoying themselves and if anyone disagrees with how they intend to do that they don't have to attend |
Exactly - they are a bit serious and religious about the whole thing. But that's what they want, which is fine by me. To be fair, they have been very understanding of the sort of things we want, so they obviously have a similar view, but the no kids thing is now causing family ructions. Initially I thought it was a bit unfair, as you can't get a babysitter for an afternoon on the other side of the country (I am assuming they will be allowed at the reception) but then all the families have another set of grandparents etc who could sit overnight. I am staying well clear of it. Personally I think a wedding should be joyfull occassion for families. To them it's quite a serious religous commitment. As himself and I have been together for ten years, and living in sin for 5, we reckon we've earned a party, and things like white dresses might be taking mickey a bit!
Himself and I have agreed that we want it to be fun and a big celebration. This is really weird, as we don't usually agree on anything! Trouble is we now need to be a bit tactful in order not to rock the boat. I think I'll just include the children's names on the invites - putting 'children welcome' might be a little bit undiplomatic! |
