So, I know they are self centred, vicious little hypocrites, so can someone explain to me why they are quite so endearing? Mine has just strolled in rather soggy from the rain, demanded to be towelled dry, trampled on my paperwork and fallen asleep with one paw artfully arranged on my shoulder. I know its an act, but awwwww

( or am I just a sad, bitter, childless old harriden who finds cats anchor her to the sofa for at least 30 seconds at a time)

what did churchill say?

"a dog looks up to you, a cat looks down on you but a pig looks you straight in the eye"

cats use us to get what they want and i think it is their confidence that disarms us

there is no discussion with a cat like there is with your dog

your dog will argue the toss with you

the cat already has made the decision based on the single premise that it wants and you provide

end of story
