To me its just a large headed calabrese type. There are many colours of calabrese I believe. I have only ever had success with the normal green and only F1 varieties. Comet and Shogun are my favourites.

Romanesco is lovely stuff. I'm trying to grow it, but not having a lot of luck so far. First set of seedlings (indoors) died when I pricked them out, second lot (outdoors) were eaten by slugs. Have just sown a third batch - no doubt these will fall prey to the cabbage whites

Never had much success with either cauliflower or summer calabrese. Got a few good cauli heads last year, and some nice little ones forming now, but my failure rate with them has always been too high. Hoping to solve this with cima di rapa this year, seedlings looking happy (but crowded) at present.
