I can confirm that this was a success. We AI'd our tamworth sow with landrace semen and despite concerns that the landrace wouldn't fare well outside they've thrived. Two have gone to slaughter and the meat is near perfection - tamworth taste and landrace leanness - about an inch of fat ,so just right. We're considering keeping one of the gilts as she's a great looking pig and it'll be interesting to see what litter sizes she produces.

Unfortunately no Rob. We bought semen straws from Ireland. We've had real trouble finding a boar of any description, hence the AI. We've got a tamworth boar in with the sows right now and we're thinking about hiring someones large black but we really struggle when trying to find a boar.

Sally - I'll get some photos of the gilts tomorrow if it stops raining - or did you mean photos of the pork?

Landrace are really long white pigs with floppy ears and come originally from Scandinavia . I'm 99% certain fom Denmark. I use to keep three pedigree sows.
Your Landrace cross Tamworth should make great Bacon pigs

Landrace are very similar to welsh pigs. Welsh sometimes used to be called welsh landrace.
