Tahir, irrigation is not a problem! Drainage pipes underneath due to 5 natural springs! 2 diverted to our pond, one for our well and the others drain into ditches that feed into Lough Dergh!

We are going to try and find contractor ( at this time of year??) to bury the weeds by our pond - we have a huge dip in land and seems like a good natural compost zone!! Its a meadowland surrounded by wild orchids and yellow flag - don't worry not touching that bit just the rare breed thistle patch

So is your problem really going to be that it's too wet? Do those springs drain anywhere naturally or flood?

No they drain into ditches and onwards to Lough Dergh! Oh and one into our lake!

Just packing it looks and sounds too lovely! However - I could add that we bought home a perfect pony (fingerscrossed) yesterday so maybe I am looking a lighter shade of green now hehehe

Ruby, Ok you can do green!!!! I could fit a few ponies on here and not notice!!! Perfect or not.... Anything to eat the grass/etc

What about some pigs? They'd clear it nicely for you (although it might depend what you do with it later) and you can never have too much bacon.........

Looked in yellow pages under "Mushroom Growers" our nearest one happens to be organic, they charge �25 for loading whatever size vehicle you turn up in.

we have 2 GOS pigs at the moment but although they are eating the weeds I reckon we'd need 50 to do the job!!!

How big is the pond? Could it be made any larger and stocked with a few fish or made into a flight pond if it's not already?

About 1/2 acre at present looking forward to ducks next year!!! Give it a while to settle and besides oh has a long list of jobs before duck housing...... He's out finishing huge pen for the long tails....onagadoris and phoenix!!! I just can't resist them! I'd also like some geese as pond is down by gate and good deterrents!!
