Still posting, but light circuit still off, as I need to wait for a bit of glue to dry, before drilling a couple of holes.

Actually I have left the wiring pretty flaky, But my excuse is I will sort it when I wire in the extraction fan

Lights

Which leaves tomorrow problem, as how do you drain a central heating system with no drain point

That has to be about the size of it, but given the crap in the system, this is not one to look forward to. Promises to be somewhat messy.

That would be most informative and probably entertaining - after all once you've disconnected the radiator there's little you can do to control the flow - how much does the sytem hold?

No doubt this will be a one man job as all the other family members will have disppeared in the belief that not being involved is more convenient that a ground floor swimming in rusty water.

The one minor point of good fortune is that I was economical with the actuallity There is actually a drain point on the boiler, which is on the kitchen wall, so I should be able to get most of it.

But having put cleaner in the system, whilst I only need to drain the top floor for the work I'm doing, I think I will need to drain off completely.
