All my toolbars have disappeared and I just have one broad beige line at he top with a few things on it? I've switched the computer off and on again but it'sstill like it.

What have I done wrong and how can I put it right?

Which version of windows are you running? And which toolbars, do you mean the bar with the Start button on it?

Yep, that one's gone too!

I normally have google and Roboform across the top and the one with the back and forward, favourites and history across the top.

The start, explorer and outlook buttons have gone from the bottom.

I'm running Windows XP Home

What options do you get if you right click on the toolbar?

Noramlly if you kind of click and drag around the edge of the screen you can drag it back into existance.

I don't know I'm a complete technophobe

I think I will have to wait for the other half to come home and sort it out for me. Will go prepare tea instead

On the bit of toolbar thats still visible can you right click your mouse on it.

If you can does it show the tool bar names, they should have a tick next to them, if they are missing select them to put the tick back on and they should re appear.

As for the Start button bar try clicking where it should be and see if you can drag it back on to the desk top.

I hope you find them.

Doesn't XP have a "restore toolbar" feature?

The XP toolbar can be set to auto-hide. Move the mouse down to the very bottom of the screen and it comes back.

Ctrl & Esc keys at the same time show the start menu, so does the window key next to Ctrl. The little menu key next to the right hand Ctrl key shows the details as if you right clicked on the start menu.

Thanks all, I have managed to get my toolbars back at the top but the bottom one is still hiding unless I pull the cursor right down to the bottom of the screen when it pops up.

I think I will have to pull the idiot woman routine when he comes home.

Drag cursor down to bottom of screen and toolbar shows, right click on tool bar, select 'properties' and check off autohide.

Or leave it for 'im to wonder what's happening.

Typical! He's home and fixed it in about 2 seconds flat.

I knew there was a reason why I married him
