Out of my first trip to the library I found this absolutely great book 'allotted time'. In it you see the author starting his venture into allotment ownership from a drunken conversation down the pub to fruitition at the first harvest. Through the diary style chat he makes general observations on allotment ownership, the characters he meets, the advice he is given and the benefits it brings himself and his family.
Don't expect good solid allotment advice - though there are a few helpful hints in the back pages - but a good bedtime read filled with humour.
Oh that's funny, I'm halfway through. Found it at my library too. Thoroughly enjoying it; recognise all the characters (does every allotment have a "Ken"?) and it allows a small amount of smugness at knowing more than the author even though it's my furst year allotmenteering too.

I have the book too, I read it last year and was a great light-hearted read.
