Went to the timber merchants this morning, got the wood for the hen house.

At present Lundy and Phil, my stepson, are outside building it!!!!
It's looking pretty good if I say so myself.

Will get some photos of it in stages and post them on here.

We have a really cheap boatyard near us and the bill for the wood is 41.58 (that's to build a house measuring 4' by 3').

Obviously the labour is free

Yes, def' look forward to the piccies. We were lucky in that hen houses were already on our plot when we found it with just a small amount of repair work to be done.

All new ideas are welcome so get them pics up here as soon as poss'

Lundy is doing a really good job (I think), it isn't finished and probably won't get finished until next weekend. So will get some photos taken and get them up here next weekend.

Sorry, haven't got ready to sorting the piccies out yet, will get them on this week. Still have a bit of work to do on the hen house - Lundy spent all last weekend and some of this sorting my scooter problem out for me (problem being when someone reversed into me and knocked me off ).

Next week we must get the enclosure sorted, again will take some piccies of that.

Suggested to Lundy it would be nice to have a little house name sign for the girls over the pophole - it was only a joke!!!!

I know exactly where you are coming from. Each weekend we plan a hundred and one things that need doing and by the time you have reached the end of the first job (with all it's add-ons and deviations) the weekend is just about done.

Never mind ... keep up the good work and when the piccies do arrive you can look forward to a whole load of praise (from me at least, and I am sure many others too)

At least you've planned something though. I've spent a whole weekend unable to do anything because of a poorly toddler and no one else around to look after her

When we got our hens it took me a little longer to finish their home than planned and the chicks spent a few days in our kitchen. That's probably why they feel so at home in there.

I got my girls this evening, four Barnevelder pulletts, just into first lay. One laid an egg in the Audi as I was taking them home!....Much curious sniffing from Kaizer and Billy going on around the hen house now!

There's a thought - we could have had them in our conservatory for a few days - Tobys (see left!) stays in there during the day when we are out at work - hmmmn, let's see, his clockwork mouse lasted 5 minutes wonder what he would make of 6 nervous hens?!

Seriously, we've made a couple of boo-boos along the way with the hen house but it's nearly finished (well, once the roof is on). Lundy has designed the enclosure and this weekend we are getting that put together.

Will get him to post the piccies here - I'm not blonde but I might as well be, if you get my drift!

Your hen accommodation looks very nice - p(hen)thouse, in fact!

Hens look nice, too.
