Yes, indeed ... some folks have all the luck (and money)

Well, our henhouses here in France are a little more "ruff & ready" but our hens seem to like them so I am posting a pic of them up here anyhow. The buildings were in need of repair when we came here (18 months ago) and we have since added fencing although I may aswell not have bothered as we let them range freely during the day and they tend to get themselves into their hut OK on an evening.

Nice to see photos of what others are doing tho' so please keep the piccies coming.

By the way our "wormery" which I made at the weekend is storming along .... thank you to whoever it was that posted the weblink for "wormery on a budget" ... much appreciated!

We have Rhode Island red, Suffolk (or is it Sussex) White, and three Turken - also know as naked necks (they are completely bald around the neck area). We also have a bantum cock.

I can put it on now if you like but I'm afraid that their is not much to see here as the weather is terrible at the moment. We are hoping to rig it up to the laptop and get it out into the garden once things warm up a bit.

I like the sound of the naked necks (bless them!). I don't know why but it has just conjured up a picture of little hens with little knitted scarves

We will be starting off with six ex-battery hens but I would like to get a couple of pure bred hens later on - fancy a maran or legbar (I think I fancy getting marans because my friend has some and they produce the most beautiful looking chocolate coloured eggs).

Here are "the gals" - scarves not pictured!

Never seen 'em in England so I guess it must be a France thing (Turken). There are quite alote of them round about us. At first we thought it was wicked farmers plucking their necks to make them easier to ring, but we have since found that it is due to a hormone that can be introduced to most breeds. Still researching them - they are good egg layers so we love them all the same.

Well thank you HWH. You have now confirmed the idea we have been offered regarding the hormones. Your "poulle" looks mighty fine. Hope things are going well there. Are you based in England, Wales, France ???

We love all these places and many others

Thank you also for the compliment on the website .... it is in it's early days but will be much better soon ... when I get a minute to myself .....
