I'd love to do another big garden deck for someone. But whilst I don't think the tiling I have done is that bad, I am to much of a perfectionist to ever want to do this type of work paid or unpaid for other people

Jema - well done. Bloomin' heck there was a fair amount of tiling and grouting there

When Lundy did our bathroom I helped him grout - it's dreadful for your hands, they end up all dry and horrible.

You need to pamper those little mitts of yours now - lots of nourising hand cream - listen to your auntie Gertie.

They are not too bad, but they were in a right state

The bathroom was totally tiled before and the floor was a barsteward to rip up. It was using an SDS drill to strip the bathroom and lefting the floor that did things in. At one point I did have to pretty much stop for a day as gripping anything was pretty painful.

Of course a winter of only delicately tapping a keyboard had not got my hands in shape for the work!

Always happy to advice on decking. I spent practically a month researching building decks, as I had the idea too early in the year to start building, and a deck on a hill side did need some real thought. So I think I learnt enough to give decent advice.

Don't worry HWH, you're not the first and will not be the last to think that.

This one has hit my stubbern streak years ago. I am known as jema on a lot of forums and so I shall remain. The phonetic issue took awhile to dawn on me, and by that time I had established the nickname

Hi Jemma, what a wonderful job you've made of it, must have been quite daunting. Well done kid, it's most impressive.

It was pretty daunting. We were going to cop out and pay someone, but having got a plumber in for another disaster just before xmas, I figured that we were really going to struggle to afford it, and that really I should be able to cope with the plumbing myself.

Besides which, where is the sense of satisfaction if you pay someone?
