I think I'll be a pain with commenting on this, this week

Whilst I do note some worthy articles on the rise, we also see the continued strong showing of the rivercottage meat book review which I can say without knocking anyone ego but my own is a pretty poor article, and also a few others that are good articles which have had the extra benefits of promotion on the front page or elsewhere.
Basically what I am saying is that whilst we want quality, and a lot of quality articles are doing well, you can see the facts in the figures about the "marketing" factor

What do we do about this? I think on whole we just grin at this, the really good stuff is getting read, and some of it probably because people are sucked in via the search engines by the other stuff.

But maybe we should work a little harder on things like titles. For example "big small wind power" might well get more attention with turbine in the title.

What are you saying about chicken keeping. I assume you also mean April.

You're probably right about the article names. It's good to have a range of articles, some simple and topical like my hen one, and some more in depth (ones that I prefer).

I do think a bit more work needs to be done organising the indexing of these articles and making the search more promenant and obvious (with a button please). Once people visit the site a simple, easy to use search would keep them here. At the moment you need to search for the search option.

You're dead right, Jema, the titles of our articles are, effectively, ad headlines for our site when people Google, IMHO it's essential that (to quote a marketing cliche) they do what they say on the tin.

I'm sure it explains why the skin cream article has had so many views already - the title was written with Google in mind.

(now you're going to tell me that's not how people found it, aren't you??)
