Look what I got for my birthday today!

This is her waiting for her mum to eat the placenta. (Perfectly normal, full of vitamins and keeps foxes off the scent.)

We've been really busy shearing and sorting the wool, and of course now we've got kids to check up on every three minutes, I'll never get anything done!

Well done!
Do you shear 'em yourself of have someone in? Hand shears, clippers or electic thingies? Our sheep have got to be done in a month or so, and I'm going to cop out and get our ewes done with a neighbour's sheep by the jobbing team of shearers.

Happy birthday HWH! I can't think of a much nicer present, isn't she gorgeous? Will you be keeping her to add to your stocks? Or to your stock

She's an Angora kid and they are really adorable eh?

You don't see her mum's fleece because we shear them before kidding to help the wee one find the nipple and the mum to be a bit cleaner and more comfortable. (Also we want the wool for the spinners in April!)

This girl we'll keep because she's from a lovely Billy that we no longer own and I want to keep his bloodlines. I'm so glad it was a girl!

My boyfriend Fabrice shears them with an electric (solar powered ) shearer and I do the bits & bobs with scissors.

We don't shear our sheep, we have to catch them though, do their feet and teeth etc. and then we pass them on to shearers who take two minutes to shear them. At a pound each ewe, it's a real bargain!

Hi HWH

I'm pleased you are keeping her, she's so adorable. They appear to be very docile.

Good idea about shearing mum before the baby arrived - at least that is one less job for you to do when you are so busy with other things.
