Did you notice hardly any European tourists last year? Local hotels have had it bad for the last few years up here.

Thought that was due to the weather conditions.

Did you notice the weather last year? Flooding in July was world news. I wouldn't have come here. On the flip side, I hear the slopes are already open and looking at their best year ever.

It was wet throughout a lot of Europe, and they didn't know before hand anyway. The has been strong for a good few years and tourists have not come for ages. When last did you see a Yank outside Londonshire?
The slopes are seemly top notch for Scotland, but would a Englishman travel up to ski on our snow, or tavel to France for powder snow and cheap booze? I know tha answer, The strong pound works in our favour when abroad.

Oh, true enough. Why would you come here, expensive, covered in CCTV cameras, blocked roads, poor food, poor weather and a target for terrorists, when you can go somewhere hot, dry, with nicer beaches and cheap lager for less money?

I can't blame people.

As over half my income comes from the Euro zone, I am starting to feel the benefit after several very flat years.

The hotels in Asturias only had 64% occupancy last season so it has not been a good year here for tourism. Think we are seeing the first effects of too much borrowing, debt and credit.

I cannot think that the euro will hold up for much longer as the problems in Europe are not dissimilar to the UK or States.

ON the French slopes the beer and food is just as expensive as here, if not more so. 8 for a coke last year. I nearly had my butler complain!

I'm just hoping that the exchange rate will be favourable when I plan my Scandinavian loghouse project.

Don't want a moose, there's no room in the freezer for anything else. I just want a house.

No, I was thinking the UK would get a moose when we send you over there to the fjords.
