was in Cornwall farmers at launceston the other day. They are selling a pound of honey from a local producer for ï¿½5. Dearest honey Ive seen locally.....must increase my prices!

The price has gone up horrendously. I think the very cheapest I have seen local honey is ï¿½3.50, with ï¿½4 being more usual. ï¿½5 is just unbelievable though. I really need to overcome my beephobia.

Well, I swapped 10 jerusalem artichoke tubers for a jar of honey a couple of months back. As B&Q were selling 3 tubers for ï¿½2.98, that works out at about a tenner! But a fiver seems steep to me.

It's a supply and demand thing. Because last Summer was so dreadful, many honey makers got far less to sell than usual. So the price of British honey has increased a lot. Heather honey is even more expensive, up to ï¿½7 a jar.

Its due to the awful Summer we had last year - there was so little honey produced that the stocks that are left have rocketed in price I sold my honey at ï¿½3.50 a jar at the garden gate and to friends - Although I didn't really have any spare to sell to anyone else and most of my friends got it for nothing anyway

I'd better stock up - honey, including heather honey, is still ï¿½3.50 from the chap on our Farmers Market.

judith: don't forget the bee co-op: I'm sure we (Chez & I) could come to an exchange arrangement with you. What would you like to swap for honey?

And you could come over to meet the bees one day if you like. All 4 hives doing well.

North Devon apairy have just advised its members the price should be ï¿½5 a lb

My bees are away in the rape - so Ill have to harvest early, and Im going for ï¿½5 a jar. If they dont like it, they dont need to buy it.

according to the bbc today, bees will be exctinct in 10 years! i love honey, ï¿½5 a jar is worth it for me, especially borage honey

No offence but I wouldn't give a pound a jar for rape honey.
I thought most producers sold it on for processing.
I've been selling my mixed flower honey for ï¿½3.50 a jar & will probably keep the price the same this year.

We sold ours for ï¿½3.50 for a 12oz jar last year.
