I recently made a batch of soap and didn't have enough lavender essential oil so I mixed it with some tea tree and the resulting soap smells wonderful. I also make bath oils which I add fragrances to. Does anyone have any combinations of fragrances that work really well which I can try.

Not really - I'm not very good mixing things, I like the smells on their own. I often mix calendula and chamomile in soaps and things, but its more for the healing properties than the smell, as the chamomile overpowers the calendua, I think.
Tea tree and lavender aound nice though - I think I'll make bathroom cleaner from them, when the exams are done!
Soap books will tell you all about base note, top note and the like, and while that's true I'm not really interested in such complexity!
I make a mixed floral soap with the tiniest amount of rose essential oil, and fragrance oils such as fresia, violet and anything else floral that comes to hand. Always seems to be good. I've done one with ground coriander, orange zest and carrot. That worked well.
