I saw this company mentioned in a magazine and looking at their site I see they do a basic firearms safety course:

https://www.dmqtraining.co.uk/pages/basic_firearms_course.html

It's not really clear whether its aimed at beginners or at consolidating existing skills, but I thought it was an interesting idea as such a lot of firearms training seems to be of the "suck it and see" variety, which seems not to be a bright idea when you're dealing with something that could remove a limb or three.

Has anyone seen much organised training available for individuals?

I found the Navy was quite good for me.

You don't need to pay for a course, just follow the rules:

1. Every gun that is not in your hands AND you have not checked, is loaded.

2. Do not point the gun at anything other than the target.

3. Always use three round bursts and shoot to kill.

However, you may amend the rules slightly.

1. Always keep a shotgun broken until you are ready to shoot.

2. Only shoot if you are confident of a clean kill.

3. Ensure that there is nothing in your line of fire that you do not want to shoot. Threfore do not shoot over buildings or hillocks because you cannot see where the shot will fall.

4. Do not use a three round burst.

When you're out remember muzzle awareness.
