Herman is also about, much better than Early Rivers (but either is preferable to all the dodgy imports )

Alas there was no Herman on Cambridge market. Although I didn't enquire of the man selling sausages what his name is.

looks like the plum trees i foraged from last year have been chopped down

We're picking Hermans at the moment with Czars next, then Victorias followed by Marjorie Seedling. Whoever planted our orchard knew what he was doing.
I'm poaching them slowly in the oven, dotted with honey. Over a few hours they caramelize and are lovely lukewarm with icecream.
