Surprising lack of Police guidance about storage of ammunition. I would have expected it to be much clearer and more concise. It leaves me unsure as to whether my ammo box is ok mounted in a movable wooden wardrobe, or not.

1st reply from cybershooters :

You need the Firearms security handbook, rather than the guidance.

If you aren't keeping a lot of ammo then a seperate locking compartment in an approved gun cabinet is sufficient. If you want to keep larger quantities then a seperate cabinet is needed. Anything else which privides the same level of security is OK so you could build a custom cupboard or locker, or such, if it presents the same level of dificulty to get in to.

Thanks. Interesting, taht. I have an ammo safe, to the reuired spec, which is then bolted into a freestanding wooden wardrobe.
