A good night's haul. Nice one. Worth going out for. Probably more bunnies than there are in total round here - it's become rabbit desert in the last couple of years. I would be lucky to get one or two this year.

We do not have wild rabbits here. I love to eat them as well, but they are hard to come by. As a student we did some testing on lab animals and we were then allowed to take them home for eating. In Australia I had some sensational meals and I would love to have another go. But I still think of Watership Down

They have a huge battle culminating in a single combat to the death don't they? (In the book anyway, never saw the film which I imagine was fluffier.)

Oh, but you should read the book. When my boys were little we read it aloud over and over again. There are several combats where some rabbits die and some survive. The book is very funny, and though children and adults laugh at the same time, we can see the double meaning where the children see the surface. The ending is lovely and always left me in tears.

Never saw the film either. Watership Down deserves better.

I did read the book. Quite a few times, just not recently. His follow up about the dogs that escaped from a laboratory was rubbish though.

And you should read 'The Phantom Tollbooth' by Norton Juster if you haven't. Best book ever.

The Plague Dogs, if i remember right. Totally agree. Richard Adams is not always great, but Watership Down will be remembered as a classic and hopefully read by many generations of children.

On Saturday night in Somerset the moonlight was so bright that you could see everything in (muted) colour, even the reds. I watched out of the window for ages waiting for the animal with glowing eyes in the holly to reveal itself, till I realized it was a solar light blown over by a gale just emitting a glimmer.
