Ingredients
4 tbsp water
1/4 lb butter
3/4 lb demerara sugar
2 level tbsp golden syrup
1 level tbsp black treacle
Recipe
Put all ingredients into a pan and heat slowly, stirring, until butter melts and sugar dissolves.
Bring to boil; cover pan and boil gently for 2 minutes.
Uncover and continue to boil, stirring occasionally, for 10-15 minutes.
Pour into a buttered tin, leave until hard.
Turn out onto board and break up with a small hammer.
Comments
Store the toffee in layers separated by greaseproof paper, otherwise it'll end up as a big congealed lump.
