Made it this weekend, and was surprised how easy it was. I see what you mean about a little goes a long way, but I made half a batch (becase thats how much almond oil I had left) and I suspect it won't last long - it's about half a chinese takeaway tubful!
Thanks nettie, its great - I can stop buying ridiculously expensive stuff from the body shop now. I made it with caldendula and camomile oils and used camomile tea instead of water. Next time I might make it more scented, with orange flower water or lavender water
It says in the article that adding more water will make it thicker? That seems different to most things - is it some chemical jiggery pokery I don't want to know about?
I also made toner from a book, from a table spoon of vodka, two of which hazel and a cup of the remaining camomile tea, and 4 drops of camomile and calendula oil. I've bunged it in a kilner jar with a packet of cotton waxing strips from the bodyshop to replace those horrifyingly wastful disposable clensing wipes I was using. There's probably a more convinient container somewhere, but it seems to have worked well. I'll dilute the tea if I do this again, as it smells quite strong, but I might play with the flavours instead. There's also no getting away from the fact that it looks like a specimen jar - oh well! |
