rather fancy asking Santa for one of these peg looms from Ascott smallholders. (Apart from having to be a good girlie..

.)Has anyone got one of these? There are 3 different sizes, which would be most useful do you think? Not done any weaving before but reckon it looks easy enough. Was thinking cushion covers or rugs ( can sew sections together I guess..)

I've got a peg loom, and they are great fun. I make rugs on mine. All you need is lots of strips of fabric; it takes a while to get the thing threaded up and running, but once you see how to do it you're away. Mine was hand made by a friend throguht the LETS scheme, o didn't cost anything; I haven't seen the ones from Ascott, but would say that you should nly invest in one if youa re sure you will use it quite a lot, as I'm sure it won't be cheap. Mine is about 3 ft wide, I think.

Can you post some photos and some sizes and I'll see if I can make up a step by step guide to make your own........What an I say I must now have 20 projects on the go

I am, that's what scares me. Greenhouse lining almost done (enough for the website for now), then just the quiz, my job, mincemeat and pud to do this week. Oh and this morning the latest images for www.alexwatersracing.com came in so I'll have to edit and upload those as well

if you go to the link for the ascott website the piccys are fairly clear. You'll see there is a choice of sizes.

I'll get some photos as soon as Mr L puts the camera thingy whatsit back on the computer; we have been taking it one thing at a time since we lost the lot a couple of weeks back. I'm out skittling tonight, so he might get it done then if I ask hime nicely.
It's a very simple piece of equipment, and the rugs make up very quickly. If I really get my a into gear, I'll set up a new rug on it, so it can be seen in action as well.

I do sleep, but I'd been out at a Garden Club Committee meeting, followed by a couple of beers, so not ready for bed when I came in. I quite often have a couple of hours in the afternoon, which helps. If I disappear suddenly, you'll know where I've gone............ZZzzzzz

due to fantastic service from Ascott Smallholding Supplies ( only placed the order Friday) my peg loom arrived today. As I hadn't used one before I also got a small booklet with ideas. So off this afternoon to play with it! I'll let you know how I get on with it!

I think there's room for both, or a collaboration, depending on how people want to work.

If you've never done it before you'll come across all the glitches and difficulties that might not always occur to someone who knows what they're doing, and you're quite likely to do something differently.

The more experienced people could comment, or if you were both happy, add to the article, or get her teeth in to a more advanced guide instead. That's the attitude I've taken anyway cos Heaven knows anything I've written there are 40 people on here who know the subject better than me!

But in the mean time, you give people food for thought.

So please do go for it - to be honest I'm not even entirely clear what you use this thing for!
