The talk about the trading should probably be in guidelines announcements suggestions.

I'm up for a whole separate section for trading. We could start off as T says with swaps (wasn't it originally briefly called that?) and traders for money. Likely we would only need to further divide the traders bit. An interim solution might be a convention for labelling posts: (I sound like I have one of those charts you use in meetings) eg food or meat, crafts, services etc?

Sounds like a good start to me, we could see how that works.

On the main site under traders we have 6 categories. 5 of which are actual trading categories.

So allowing from a swap categorie, we would need 6 forums to reflect that. It might be a larger number of forums, but I think it makes much more sense to complement the site structure logically.

Very true- it may work both ways too- encouraging use of the main site as well as the forum if there is some continuity between the two.

I put them in thre trading section to get people to talk about them. If they were in the guidles/announcment section I don't think we would have had as much feedback. It was also a good way to bring a little attention to this section, which seems to have worked.

Keep your feathers on, I was just trying to help with the idea of clearing up the traders from the gumph. You know what you said before re moving useful threads from chat to a relevant forum once they'd run their course? That might be an idea, but Tahir's suggestion of a tech board is probably simpler. I'm just worried we wind up with too many boards to confuse people.

Feathers firmly on. The problem wiht the trading section is there are very little traders so splitting things up much would spread stuff too thinly at the moment.

I think I would resolve this a little by putting the trading section at the bottom of the forum page.

I see your point, but speaking as a trader myself, the topic seems so disorganised at present that if I were new to the site, I would not be sure about using it to trade.

Also, when I do post something specific to sell, it can mean constantly posting something myself on the thread, just to get it back to the top of the list again & ensure it isn't lost further down the list.

As a new person can I give my twopence opinion?

I think including the word "buy" in the trading post description would be good to make it clear it's not just for people bartering, I know it sounds well daft but I looked past the topic initially thinking, "I have nothing to sell, or to swap, that bit's not for the likes of me."

Even though it's obvious when I actually think about it that people selling stuff would obviously need someone to sell it too!

Certainly That is a very interesting observation & not one I'd have thought of, but just the kind of thing I think needs changing to attract more people on both the seller & buyer sides.
