Tomatoes on the plot are basically dead. Blight finishing off what stem rot started.

So, I've got a heavily manured, blight ridden spot to use.

I've already got pumkpins, cucumbers, courgettes, sweetcorn, squashes, peppers, chillis, aubergines, beans (french and runner), peas, spuds, huckleberries... I'm essentially looking for something to put in there to make use of that space that I don't already have.

Any ideas?

Hmmm... Don't need spinach or chinese cabbage, got enough cabbage, chard and leaf beet. But more caulis might not be a bad idea, they should do really well there. Might be a winner, thanks.

Fenugreek seems happy on any scrap of soil, do you find it benefits from rich ground?

Do you have success with the huckleberries?---grew them once and thought they were disgusting---didn't even make nice wine---did I do something wrong?

Bloke on the plot next to mine grew them the year before last and didn't like 'em. I found them to be delicious when cooked. Dunno whether mine will be successful yet, but they're looking good.

Have a few kale seedlings to plant out. The ones that the snails left me with. Tentatively plan to put 'em where the second earlies come out (alongside the swedes). I grow cavolo nero every year, growing a red one for the first time this year. Always put my kale in late as a winter crop.

Thats not a bad idea either. Haven't factored in where the garlic is going yet.

Found the red kale to be really tender and delicious to eat--but doesn't crop quite as heavily---but that could have been my growing conditions. I might try huckleberries again as they cropped heavily----perhaps I picked them too early---but they were black---poured the wine away and I haven't done that in years.

They were better from Johns (my neighbours) plot after a while on the plant. They want to be good and ripe, not just ripe I think.
