I was going to put a post on here a 2 weeks ago to say our indian runner ducks haven't started laying this year yet, but they started in earnest last week, and yesterday one produced a massive egg (photo included hopefully !) compared to a normal indian runner duck egg (Next to it)

I was just amazed and felt the need to share it with you guys ! Poor duck that had to lay it though !

Jon.

JonO - I don't know what has happened but yesterday one of our hens had just come off the nest box and I found a very small, warm egg - a darker brown and more speckled than normal. If it was the 1st April I would think Lundy was having a laugh, but I was there when it 'appeared'

Weird or what!

Hi JonO - have spoken to an experienced poultry keeper who says it's either because the hen is coming into lay or going out - hope it's the former!
