Posting this here on behalf of a non Downsizer member (Norm) as it may be of interest to Top Bar Hive fans. Hope that's ok!

Several of us have been testing a voice chat room in Paltalk for discussion of sustainable beekeeping methods - top bar hives, natural comb, chemical-free management, etc. Paltalk is an internet chat service for text, voice and video chatting. The Paltalk Messenger program is in a free, banner-supported format. The client for Microsoft PC's, now called PaltalkScene, is available for free download here:

https://www.paltalk.com/start_chatting.shtml

Macintosh and Linux users can try PaltalkExpress:

https://www.paltalk.com/express/

Once you have Paltalk installed and loaded you can search for the room "Sustainable Beekeeping" and save it in your favorite rooms. Or click this link to enter from the web:

https://chat.paltalk.com/g2/paltalk/1.../WebLoader.wmt

Please drop in and say "hi". It is generally agreed that Paltalk is a great adjunct to these forums for live discussions and we hope to host some future live events there.

Sam has squeezed a lot of beekeeping in the six years since he graduated from Bard College in New York and is now a crusader for sustainable beekeeping methods. When Sam is not speaking at organic beekeeping conferences or visiting natural beekeepers all across the U.S., he splits his time between his own apiaries in the Hudson Valley, New York and commercial apiaries in southeastern Florida. Sam is breeding his own line of survivor bees using top bar hives and chemical-free management techniques.

Before Tuesday nights talk, here is a taster for any of you that may be interested in sustainable beekeeping. A web interview with Sam.

I recommend anyone interested in hearing Sam's talk to visit the room first and check out your computers audio settings.
