Interesting. Possibly a bit bulky for the amount of viable use in the UK climate.

Does make me think though, what about using a crock pot/slo cooker in the greenhouse in summer? or even in its own mini greenhouse, with a mattblack metal floor on a peice of wood to insulate it.

I was thinking more along the lines of hybridising the sloar oven with some of the ideas from the solar water heater E.G Plastic window ( conservetory roof type ) fibreglass insulation and metal or wooden boxes istead of cardboard

Now just trying to think of a way to control the tempreture some sort of vent should do the trick

It sounds worth a try, but I think the silver foil should be shinning side IN to reflect the heat back inwards to the pot Or am I reading it wrong.

I also think you could hybridise it with the "haybox cooker" which is straw lined.

Thanks selfsufficientish,

I will look forward to reading that. It seems a great way of having hot meals on a day out or while camping, not to mention a little bit of fun cooking for free, as long as the sun holds out that is!!
