I decided to engage in some slightly suicidal* cycling through a wood on my way home today instead of taking the road route and found loads and loads of ceps coming up. The largest was about the size of a golf ball but there were little buds erupting from the ground everywhere. So exciting!
*I say slightly suicidal cos I was on my electric bike which weighs about a ton and has no suspension and I'm fasting
Thanks for the tip-off Minamoo, went out today and I got my first of the season CEPS ,maggot free. Also got a couple of charcoal burners puff balls and a few chanterelles.Nice little fry-up and nice pasta dish with the ceps!!!! Roll on the new season.
Thanks for the welcomes.
Bubble - I'm from Norfolk, and if I'm not mistaken I bumped into you last year when you were collecting hedgehogs in my local wood and you mentioned this site.

Nothing doing on my patches as of yet, they always seem to fruit later than other places but I will keep 'em peeled, shame as I used up the last of my supplies the other week to make Simon Hopkinson's Baked pappardelle with pancetta and porcini which was a real winner.
