I like them all but haven't had much luck with broad beans, nor really with french. Runners are a runaway success every time though, and you can really taste the difference from shop bought, too. (Why do they manage to pick french beans nice and tender but not runners? )

I grew runners for years until I discovered stringlees french beans, I will stick with the french now, so easy to freeze etc compared to the stringy runners!

I prefer french but ive planted some at the same time as runners and they are just sitting there sulking.
Last year in a bad summer the climbing french done nothing, but the dwarfs did ok so ive gone for more dwarfs and less climbing french.
Broad beans are the best though.

Runners for me - probably my favourite veg. I also grow climbing French but had so many of a flat-podded yellow one last year that I only planted a few this year......and of course they are doing nothing at all at the moment, just like my courgettes. I grow Broad beand but can't say that I am very enamoured of them - they are early though (usually - not this year).

Yeah, same here - the runners are halfway up the frame while the frenchies are about 9" tall and looking as grumpy as a plant can.

I suggest you pick them as the first shoots appear. And concrete over the ground.
