Does anyone know of an online place where I can get approximate prices for farm equipment from?

I'm after the price of a new 14 foot galvanised 5 bar farm gate with posts (nothing too specific then )

A decent list of farm equipemnt prices such as gates, wire, posts etc would be a great help.

Thanks Wombat, good site but no gate prices. I can't seem to find them anywhere.

Anyone know what sort of price a new metal 5 bar farm gate will cost? I need the prices for some plans...

Can you not get a quote off a (semi-) local blacksmith?

Agricultural merchants are a pretty good bet, here. I could ask my local one, next time I pop in, if you like?

Hi Treacodactyl,

I've just telephoned them:

14' Yard gate (five-barred version) 89.00
6'6" Posts (Hanging) 29.41
6'6" Posts (Receiving) 29.43
50 metre roll sheep netting 26.60

All plus VAT.

All items are in stock.

Hope this is of some help, let me know if you need more prices.

Regards,
Anna-marie

That's very kind of you Anna-marie, thanks. Seems very reasonable for a metal gate, I'll also ask at my local one as I need to get some more wood shavings tonight.

I want the price to negotiate a discount on something so the more exspensive the better.

Crikey - those gate prices are a little on the high side.

I've just bought four 12' seven-bar galv' field gates from CWG (Central Wool Growers - you'll find them on Google) and they cost me 48 each + VAT - with free delivery on orders over the value of 100.

It might be worth getting a quote from them too if you have time before it's needed.

Regards

Cris

Thanks for the posts. My local Scats had a large collection of gates, not seen them before. 12' 7 bar galvanised 59.04; 16' 80.66. Didn't check about VAT. Wooden 12' 68.27, 16' 92.58. Considering the price of some garden stuf I'd expected these to be more expensive.

I've just sold 3, 14yard 5 barred metal gates for 70 the lot. As we are moving over seas we just want everything gone so the bloke that auctioned our house bought them from us for cash. I know we could have got more but who cares, he was there on the day and they have been hanging for 6 years.

Well the house sold a few weeks back and we hand the keys in on Tuesday. Off to Nova Scotia but we are spending the winter with parents in devon and then off in Spring.

I paid 65.00 each for my 14' wooden field gates, (plus VAT, I think)
They were in stock from my local agri-merchant - free delivery on anything that won' t fit in the car.
Plus they will normally cut timber to size for me (free of charge)
