Swivel base means you can negate any canting issues, so that if the ground isn't perfectly level you can tilt the rifle back over to get verticle..... a small spirit level bubble tube help to get this ... |

Using a rod you stand a good chance of damaging the crown! Not good....
Be careful with the pull string as you don't want to damage the crown with that either.....

As for Rimfire calibres.
.17HMR & .22 WMR are suitable at appropriate ranges.
Aprropriate = the lesser of the rounds capability or your capability.
.22LR is OK at short range, maybe sub 50 ya ... |

Rhubarb would seem to not be a problem for ours.
Three hens have decimated the crop!

Depends on how many chickens you have...
For me with 3 hens, it would semm a little rash!
However if I had a flock of 600, one dying to save many might seem to have more validity...
