Just been in my sisters garden and came accross what I think is a weed. Its low growing - almost ground level with a small leaf. Its seed pods which are needle like shoot off when they are touched.
Any ideas. Sorry its so vague - sis saw a spider and that was the end of the garden.

Balsams and some legumes, and some others, disperse by having exploding seed pods; any more info? What the flowers are like or any chance of a picture?

will be going tomorrow - will take camera. Is growing in really sandy/loose soil . not much to go on is not a 'lush' looking plant and no flowers left to see.

By any chance has it got bronze clover-like leaves and yellow flowers, with quite long (inch or so) seed pods?

We've seen some quite impressive spiders about this year. Not sure if it's due to the wet weather recently but there's been some large ones round these parts.
