Very clever. It is amazing how animals will adapt and find ways of surviving. Not sure what it is, possibly badgers, but when they grow maize in the field next to the wood, we find lots of eaten cobs in the adjacent woods. Maize is not a native to the UK, so some badger must have decided it was edible some time.
