If you were buying jewellery, would you prefer the photo to show it displayed some way or being worn? not including earrings, though I can buy a display that show them 'worn'

Body types and colouring are so individual that sometimes a photo of it on a model gives the wrong impression, though it can help with scale. What about those necklace busts and bracelet stands for example they help things hang properly but are more neutral, plus if you have a page of pics you get a fairly streamlined impression when the page loads allowing people to compare more easily.

Can you show both? Sorry, but sometimes you need the two views.

Could be nice if perhaps you had the sort of pic where if you click on it you get a bigger one that shows it both alone and on a person. Would leave the main page uncluttered, but plenty of detail for those that want to see more in the second image.

I agree. Your marketing materials should cater for the various whims of prospective buyers, if possible.

I was thinking that if it was a necklace in the picture it is nice to see i worn to get an idea of the length and how it sits on the neck - personal preference though - I'm obviously in the minority

I don't think you are gnasher, I think it has just shown that you do need both angles, how about a click on picture to see different view thing?

thanks and I can do the click to see another view way on the website but not ebay ( I think) not sue if it's worth the extra of hosting pictures elsewhere or paying for extras on top of there fees

I also wondered if people might be put off buying if they think the items have been worn. shops do it all the time but they have 100's of the same item so the one you buy hasn't actually been worn

I wouldn't have thought they'd even think about it, as you said, people are used to seeing pictures of people wearing jewellery.
