Something about showing off by knitting two socks at once, but it didn't make any sense because another post got in the way. BTW have you tried knitting a garment to cover the entire human body?

Didn't mean to sound as if I was showing off, I wasn't. This is a well known, very old technique origintating in Scandinavia, I think, for knitting socks in less time than it takes to make two single ones. I thought it might be of interest to sock knitters, that's all.

That looks like a larger version of the French knitting we did on wooden cotton reels; you can get French knitting machines - I had one, used it once and sold it on e-bay at a great profit; it had sat in its box for a year.... The picture in the link looks like the way that an industrial sock machine operates. I'm a complete knitting Luddite, though...............

I worked out that that is how you use it, french knitting style. The company does different sized looms - the obvious flaw is that potentially you'd need a different loom for each person in the house!

I used to have one of those.Mine was heavy duty plastic and had double rows with a slot down the centre between them Like 2 rings with just a couple of thin strips to seperate them.You could knit rounds or double back and make flat knitting.It was very tedious after a while to just pick up loop after loop.Probably why someone had given it to the charity shop in the first place.
The one in the picture looks abit more robust and is smaller .

I am knitting my first pair of socks which I bought in kit form from getknitted and mine are knitting up inside out too. About to get to the heel which I am dreading.

when Im knitting socks, I always knit clockwise and they come out the right way round ,maybe most people knit counterclockwise and they come out inside out?

Could be. Mine are anti clockwise. No problem though. Just turn them the right way around when they are done
