Wandered down to the duck pond yesterday afternoon to repair the hides for tomorrow's shoot! Had the gun with me just in case, bagged a pair of woodies on their way home, managed a nice 35-yarder on a woodcock & ended up with a lovely evening flight

Just on darkening I decided to sit at the pond & watch, but the temptation was just too much for me!! 3 L&Rs & 1 single in 20 minutes. The smoker's going to be on overtime on Sunday

Pheasants were conspicuous by their absence

I did hear dark pheasanty mutterings from the depths of cover though
